November to December 2024
We have had a busy two months with shows, scent work trials, sprint dog and trick trials, including a few more titles earned.
- Dram was shown for the last time as a baby puppy and won another Best Baby Puppy in Group. He then went up to the Minor Puppy class and has won his first Dog CC (so points towards his title) and 2 Minor Puppy in Groups.
- Punky gained more points towards her Neuter Grand and finishes the year only needing 150 more. She also attended her first trials in Scent Works and Tricks, coming away with 2 Novice Interiors pass, 1 Novice Vehicle pass and a Trick Dog Starters pass.
- Gaia gained her Novice Sprint Dog title
- Ki gained a Novice Exterior and Novice Container pass giving him his Novice Scent works title and an Advance Interior pass. He also gained his next Sprint Dog title the SPRD, as first for a RR in Aust.
- Mera came into season as was mated to Zeus via AI. Puppies (fingers crossed) due in Jan/Feb 2025
Unfortunately, 12th December we made the decision to let CeeCee go. She was 13 yrs & 10 months, and her body was just giving out on her. It was clear she was in pain and the medication was no longer working as well as it did. She is very much missed by the pack and family.
August to October
During August we had our yearly camping holiday up at Condobolin. The dogs did well at the shows, with Punky 98pts towards her Neuter Grand with a few Best Neuter in group ribbons. Ki had a run around the ring as well gaining 60 odd points. In September the show success continued with Punky gaining 3 x Best Neuter in Show and 3 x Runner Up Best Neuter shows. In October we ventured to Sydney for the Rhodesian Ridgeback Specialties. Khamsin placed 3rd in his Intermediate Dog Class, while brother Ki had lots of fun bouncing around the ring like a puppy and was unplaced. Punky won a Res Neuter Bitch.
In September I also did a silly thing and got a Vizsla to add to the pack. His name is Dram and he is the son of Kobi, my old Vizsla. Dram has fitted right in and is best mates with Ki.
In the dog sports area, we have been very busy. We had a SprintDog trial in September and October. Khamsin, Ki, Punky and Gaia all gained qualifications at both trials, with Khamsin & Punky gaining their title at the last trial. So pending approval Khamsin will be Ch Kysaridge Aurum Ector (AI) TK.S RN ET N.SPRD and Punky will be Ch Neut Ch Kysaridge Gold Aurelia ET JC N.SPRD.
Juliet and Khamsin are also doing really in Tricks gaining two passes in Novice Tricks, his 2nd pass in CCD, as well as his N.SPRD.
June and July have been busy and successful months.
Ki now has three more Novice Scent work passes and needs one more for his novice title. In the beginning of July, we went up to Brisbane to participate in the first SprintDog trials in Australia. Ki came home with 3 passes and enough points for his Novice SprintDog Title. The first RR in Aust with the title.
20 July was a Tricks trial. The first one we have been able to get to for a long time. Unfortunately, it was a miserable day raining and blowing a gale, so the clever organisers managed to secure an indoor venue - a horse shed at the Riding for the Disabled. The poor boys (Ki and Khamsin) both had sensory overload. They did the zoomies, they sniffed, they had way too much fun. Got some nice work in between the silly's, but no passes for them. If was a new experience, so not a waste of a day.
On 27 July the ACT held its first SprintDog trial and Khamsin, Ki and Punky all came home with passes and pts towards their titles. They really do love this new game. Gaia also had a play at this new game, she did a nice first run but decided to jump out of the chute on her 2nd run. No pass for her, but she still enjoyed the run.
Sunday 28 July was the ACT Endurance Test and Juliet & Khamsin biked the 20kms and now Khamsin can add an ET to the end of his name.
April and May have seen more results in Dog Sports.
25 April we attended the first ACT Mock Sprint Dog event. Gaia, Ki and Khamsin had some fun running down the track. We will give them another go in the months to come.
27 April I went to Sydney to compete in a Scent Works trial at Castle Hill. I entered four events and come home with four passes. Gaia got Passes in Novice Vehicles and Novice Containers. Ki in his first trial got passes in Novice Exteriors and Interiors.
4 May Gaia did amazing at another Scent Works trial in Belconnen dog club and gained her Scent Works Novice (SWN) title with passes in Novice Vehicles and Novice Containers

This year is all about dog sports. The beginning of February I had Gaia and Punky in a Novice Jumping competition. They haven't been to Agility training for 6+ months, but they didn't forget their stuff. Both girls ran really well and didn't knock down any bars. Neither gained qualifying scores, but they certainly showed they can still remember how to do it.
Congratulations to Juliet and Khamsin on title number 2 for this year. Down at the Bermagui shows and trials they achieved pass number 3 for his Novice Rally title and in their first attempt in the Obedience ring, scored a qualification in CCD. So Khamsin will now have RN at the end of his name.
